Despite increased student capacity the newly appointed Principal at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine is confident that there are systems in place to ensure standards remain high.
The optimism comes from Professor Brian Copeland.
He made the comment while speaking on the Facing the Issues Programme hosted by Tony Fraser on Power 102.1fm this afternoon.
At present the St Augustine Campus has a student population of about 19,500.
Professor Copeland responding to a question posed to him on the issue admitted to deal with the development requires additional resources in various operations of the institution.
Mr Copeland also indicated that three of the faculties at UWI are now accredited as being of a professional nature in the areas of law, engineering and medicine.
Commenting on the Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses Programme or GATE Professional Copeland admitted that adjustments to the venture were needed especially in light of the economic situation.
