Less than a week after facing intense criticism in Trinidad and Tobago on Carnival Tuesday and even days after, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty has been arrested on home soil in the US. TMZ reports that Petty was detained on Wednesday for failing to register as a sex offender.

Petty is reported to have turned himself into US Marshals. He was expected to face a judge earlier today. His legal troubles are said to have started in November after being pulled over in Beverly Hills. He had apparently moved to California in July 2019 but had not registered as a sex offender in that state. He had been registered in New York where he lived prior.

Petty, TMZ reports, could face a 10 year sentence now – this after he had been placed on a $20,000 bond in California following the November 2019 police pull over. He had failed to check in after being placed on the bond and now the Federal court has taken up the matter.
Kenneth Petty served almost 4 years in New York State prison for a 1995 conviction for first degree attempted rape. He accompanied his wife, Nicki Minaj to Trinidad and Tobago last week, where the pair were spotted in the Carnival excitement, even making small appearances at various locations including Massy Stores and the St. Jude’s Home for Girls, in Belmont, Trinidad.
