Parents of students attending the San Fernando TMA Primary school will no longer take demonstrative action at the school today, this after their motion to have school teacher, Alfaz Hosein removed from the school, was granted.
Hosein will be transferred to another school and in the interim, he will not take up duties at the San Fernando TML Primary school but will continue to be paid by the Ministry of Education.
Represented by attorney Subhas Panday, Hosein did not appear in court yesterday and had not been mandated to. Panday relayed Hosein’s agreement to the stipulation that he remain away from active duty while a transfer to another school is being organsized.
Kavita Jodhan, who addressed the court on behalf of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), said a meeting will be held next Thursday and the request for the transfer to another school will be placed before the commission.
It is alleged that Hosein penned a love letter to a student at the school in 2011. There were other allegations that he interfered with other female students at the school as well. However, Hosein was cleared of all wrongdoing by a tribunal which found there were no grounds for any charges to be laid and additionally, no disciplinary action would be taken against the school teacher.
