No Bomb Threat At Parliament. Authorities Say It Was Just An Emergency Drill.

by | Jul 24, 2014

Parliament new temp oneWhile some media houses were quick to report a bomb scare at Tower D, Waterfront Complex in downtown Port-of-Spain on Thursday, News Power Now confirmed that the excitement outside the area that houses the Parliament and other buildings was in fact a scheduled emergency evacuation simulation.

Via media release from the Parliament, it was revealed that the activity was part of the scheduled drill for staff at the office of the Parliament and was not as a result of any threat to the building or staff members

The correspondence noted that any report of a bomb scare or any other such incident taking place at the Office of the Parliament, was inaccurate.

The release said Thursday’s simulation was done without the knowledge of the majority of staff members in a bid to accurately assess the organization’s level of preparedness in the event of an actual emergency.
