Parliament is told that there are no plans to boost the sanctioned strength of the Police Service in this financial year but the institution will recruit an additional 500 officers.
The revelation was made by National Security Minister, Edmund Dillion.
The Member of Parliament for Point Fortin indicated in the House of Representatives this afternoon that the current sanctioned strength of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stands at 7,715 regular officers and 6,707 Special Reserve Police Officers.
Minister Dillion also outlined several factors which will determine if there is need to improve the man power of the TTPS.
The retired senior military official added that several measures will be taken to attract persons to the TTPS.
