“Thankful” singer, Olatunji Yearwood, super songwriter and “Fatt” singer, Nadia Batson and Grenadian sensation, Shirlan “Skinny Banton” George who has given soca lovers “Wrong Again,” are just three of the amazing acts confirmed to perform at the second annual Nurses All Inclusive Fete, scheduled for Saturday February 15 at the Professional Centre Grounds, 11 – 13 Fitzblackman Drive South, Woodbrook.
With part proceeds of this event being allocated towards assisting student-nurses from the three nursing schools as well as towards building the New TTRNA Headquarters at Flag Staff in Long Circular, this event is a must-attend for those in the nursing fraternity and shuttles are being organised for staff members from East and South Trinidad. Hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association (TTRNA), this event also begins the year-long celebration of the internationally-recognised and proclaimed “Year of the Nurse (and Midwife)”.
Yearwood is particularly pleased to be a part of the cast for the second time:
“Tadow! Well yuh know ‘Tunji performed for the Nurses crew last year and we all had a blast,” he said, “so it was a no-brainer when they contacted me again and I believe I was the first act chosen and confirmed for them and that’s an honour and a privilege – I really appreciate the love and support for my music and I feel happy and excited and I’m looking forward to performing at the Nurses All Inclusive 2020.”
TTRNA President Idi Stuart revealed that the plight of student nurses in T&T is such that “they are finding it near impossible to maintain themselves for three (3) to four (4) years on a nursing stipend, which only one of the schools offers, or nothing at all for those enrolled in the other two schools”.
“This fete was designed to reward those nurses who have been working hard all year and want to enjoy a good quality, fun and entertaining Carnival jump-up without the premium all-inclusive price and at the same time, those who attend also understand that they’re also supporting the next batch of student nurses and also the Association that represents them – even as we prepare to reveal the completed drawings for our new headquarters at TTRNA’s Gala Dinner scheduled for Sunday June 7, at the Hyatt Regency. So, it’s a win-win for all: a wonderful all-inclusive event at an affordable price and you’re also supporting the student-nurses and the future of the Association that represents all Nurses,” explained Stuart.
Tickets are priced at $500 and available from all committee members, online at ticketgateway.com or by calling the hotline at 326-4044 or 331-8526. See the Nurses Fete pages on Facebook and Instagram for more information.
