President of the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association Idi Stewart is today expressing deep concern over what he says was an obvious breach of security personnel.
He says the shooting of a man at the Port of Spain General hospital points to very serious issues that must be addressed.
Speaking with News Power Now on Wednesday morning, Stewart said that there have been many incidents in the past that threatened the safety of staff and those at health institutions, however, last evening’s shooting was particularly concerning.
He also said that nurses have now become the bodyguards at hospitals.
He stated that it was sad that the same perpetrators who commit these crimes are the ones who end up in hospital shortly after themselves seeking attention from the same traumatized nurses.
