There is a call from the National Workers Union for government to put an immediate end to the state of emergency.

In the last update given by security officials on Tuesday eight hundred and ninety four persons were held for various offences during the national state of emergency.

However, N.W.U. is not convinced with the reasons given by the government for implementing its latest crime measure.

National Education and Research Officer of the N.W.U., Gerry Kangalee, spoke with News Power Authority in an interview on the matter this afternoon.

Mr. Kangalee said small businesses are feeling the economic strain of the state of emergency and this is an area of concern for the union.
