Workers vacate Legal Affairs building due to unsafe working conditions

Watson Duke on Legal Affairs building

Occupational health and safety issues have been cited as the basis for the Public Service Association’s decision to instruct workers to vacate the Ministry of Legal Affairs building in Port of Spain.

PSA President Watson Duke made the revelation while addressing a media briefing at the union’s headquarters on Abercromby Street, Port of Spain today.

Mr Duke said the employees have been instructed not to carry out their duties in an environment that is not fit to be occupied.

The trade unionist explained that while the PSA is not opposed to restructuring, the union is asking for due process to be followed.

Mr. Duke also appealed to trade unions to unite in these trying times and ensure that workers are properly represented.
