The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management is today assuring citizens that Trinidad and Tobago is prepared to deal with the effects a natural disaster.

Speaking with members of the media today at Temple Court 1 Courtyard, National Security building in Port-of-Spain Captain Neville Wint, Relief Officer of the ODPM, said the entity is more than ready in the event a hurricane or tropical storm makes its way to the twin Island.

He said the sole responsibility of readiness lies within the hands of citizens to maintain their surroundings and not litter or throw white waste in our river and streams.

When asked about sufficient disaster relief shelters for persons who are affected by flood waters, Captain Wint said the ODPM has created an after action report and such discussions will be developed going forward.
