Police officers are being urged to carry out their duties in a professional manner at all times.
The advice comes from the Police Social and Welfare Association President, Inspector Anand Ramesar.
His comment comes on the heels of Saturday’s police killing of a 19 year old Laventille man at around 12:30pm.
Inter-Agency Task Force officers claimed they were fired upon during an anti-crime exercise in the Laventille area and they returned fire.
The incident sparked protest from some residents who blocked roads with debris.
Inspector Ramesar admitted that officers have to deal with serious challenges both on and off the job.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Inspector Wayne Mystar, assured the disgruntled residents a thorough probe will be carried out.
