The online petition has been circulating over the past two weeks and has garnered over 16 000 signatures.
The petition was started by Jamelia Reid-Cato who stated that her motive is not political. However she believes that the bill needs further public consultation.
Mrs. Reid-Cato said she was able to get an additional 1,300 signatures on paper.
She intends to download all the comments and signatures from the petition and make packages, which would then be passed on to Opposition and Independent senators.
