The Opposition fails in its bid to get parliament’s approval to discuss significant job cuts in the country.
Opposition Chief Whip, Ganga Singh, sought to get permission from Deputy House Speaker, Esmond Forde, to discuss the issue as a matter of urgent national importance.
The Chaguanas West Member of Parliament argued that the government was using recent development surrounding utterances on foreign exchange from the Central Bank Governor in an attempt to divert growing pressure on the three month old ruling administration.
However, following the case put forward by Mr Singh the Deputy House Speaker did not gave the all clear required for the request to be entertained.
