Finance Minister, Colm Imbert, is defending the state’s decision to borrow money from the National Commercial Bank Global Finance Company in which, according to the Opposition Leader, the brother of government minister, Stuart Young, is the Chief Executive Officer.

UNC Political Leader and former Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, commented on the issue during the UNC’s Monday Night Forum held at Union Claxton Bay School.

She claimed that the bank benefited from numerous state transactions and also raised issues pertaining to transparency.

However, during a news briefing at his office on Tuesday morning, Minister Imbert said the government borrows from several commercial banks and noted the process.

He then responded directly to the Opposition Leader’s comments.
