by | Dec 16, 2019

Attorney General, Faris Al Rawi is suggesting that adjustments be made to the matter of the execution of search warrants.

He that the move is necessary to help police officers better carry out their duties.

The AG made the proposal while contributing to debate on the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Amendment Bill, 2019 in the House of Representatives on Monday afternoon.

However, Opposition Member of Parliament for St Augustine, Prakash Ramadhar, expressed concern that the amendment opens the door for possible abuse by officers.

Meanwhile, Housing Minister, Randall Mitchell, in the government’s defense claimed that the bill was not rushed into.

Minister Mitchell also claimed that there are safeguard measures contained in the bill.
