Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley has taken the Government to task for its passage of the controversial Constitution Amendment Bill.
Dr. Rowley said contrary to the Government’s utterances the only thing historic about the Bill was the Peoples’ Partnership coalition collapse.
During his address at a meeting in St James last evenings, Dr. Rowley called on the members of the Congress of the People who voted against to resign since he said they have signaled their disagreement with Government’s policy.
The PNM leader announced that if the Bill becomes law, Trinidad and Tobago will join a list of undemocratic nations.
To support his argument, Dr. Rowley highlighted the award of contracts during the Chaguanas West bye-elections as a way in which the Government can influence the outcome of the run-off vote.
