Despite losing the September 7th general election, incumbent United National Congress Political Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, is dismissing claims that the party is in trouble.
However, the former Prime Minister admits that there is need for changes to be made relative to how the UNC carries out its affairs.
Mrs Persad Bissessar told reporters that it is not a situation of gloom and doom for the United National Congress.
She also responded to her critics who believed that time has come for her to be removed from the leadership position.
The Siparia Member of Parliament assured that systems have been put in place to ensure free and fair internal elections on December 5th.

Supporters of the United National Congress are told should there be a change in leadership they should not be alarmed.
The assurance comes from former Health Minister, Dr Fuad Khan, who is on the Team Vasant internal election slate.
Dr Khan said there is need for the UNC to have a political leader who can focus fully on developing the party and help it regain its previous dominance.
He added that mistakes were made in the party’s general election campaign that contributed to its defeat at the poll.
