Suspended Diego Martin West Member of Parliament Dr. Keith Rowley says the Government’s decision to suspend him was taken so that its members could exonerate themselves from section 34. Dr.Rowley says the suspension was also a ploy to prevent him from winding up the debate in the motion of censure against Finance Minister Larry Howai.
Speaking with the Power News Team today, Dr. Rowley said the Government is doing their best to keep him from doing the Opposition’s work. He said despite their best efforts, an Independent body will look into matters he raised in the Parliament.
Dr. Rowley said the speaker of the House had his opportunity to prevent him from making his contribution but did not take it.
He said the People’s National Movement is giving the Government the opportunity to rescind the suspension.

Former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday, condemned the move by the Government labeling the suspension of Dr. Rowley as “Silly”.
He described the motion brought against Dr. Rowley by the Government as a move that should concern all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago stating that it was the beginning of dictatorship.
