In his Divali message to the Hindu community, Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley stated that many lessons could be drawn from the festival.
He said that in today’s society we are faced with much that is considered dark and evil.
We struggle with serious crimes, physical and mental illnesses and many other social ills that impact negatively on our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
Dr. Rowley communicated that drawing from the preparations and actual celebration of Divali we are inspired to take steps to replace evil and darkness with good and light.
We have seen that it is possible to make what is unclean, clean within ourselves and around us and we could promote and practice laudable qualities like being kind and charitable.
Dr. Rowley shared that it was his sincere belief that if we were all to heed and adhere to the spirit of Divali, every day of our lives, we would make great strides in eradicating many of the ills that plague us as a nation.
