We must not be intimidated by those against liberty, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said in a statement following a truck attack on celebrants of Bastille Day, the National Day of France earlier today.
The attack by a lorry driver who drove his truck along the Promenade des Anglais in the French city of Nice is reported to have killed 84 people and left countless others seriously injured.
Persad-Bissessar went on to say that her thoughts and prayers are with the people of France and in particular, the families who lost their loves in this violent incident.
According to the Opposition Leader, the action of the 31 year old truck driver is a shocking demonstration of the patience of forces that work against peace and liberty.
She ended by saying, “We in the Opposition United National Congress and indeed the people of Trinidad and Tobago stand in solidarity with the French people and President Francois Hollande. We wish the people of France God’s hand and protection in this time of horror and sadness.”
