Opposition Leaders says recent Cabinet reshuffle is a misdeal

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has described as a misdeal, the latest Cabinet reshuffle, effected today, by Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley.

She says he needs to throw in his cards and start over, or remove himself from the table.

Persad-Bissessar says in a statement the Prime Minister has failed the people of Trinidad and Tobago, the government has effectively collapsed and the reshuffle will do nothing to improve the lives of people in the country.

She said citizens will not be comforted by any improvements in their safety and security.

She said the Prime Minister must explain his re-appointment of Marlene Mc Donald to the Cabinet, who was the subject of a police investigation over allegations of frauds and misconduct in office, and a probe by the Integrity Commission.

He must tell the country what has changed about this, and what is the reason for re-assigning Fitzgerald Hinds for a second time within the administration that is not yet two years in office.

Persad-Bissessar said also that with the appointment of Tax expert Allyson West as a Minister in the Ministry of Finance, the Prime Minister has demonstrated that his administration has one policy, and one policy only, that of Taxation.
