In an unexpected move today, the Opposition of Trinidad and Tobago this afternoon walked out of the House of Representatives in its entirety.
A Motion of No Confidence in Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Rowley, piloted by Housing Minister, Dr. Roodal Moonilal was shut down as baseless by Opposition MP, Colm Imbert who led his colleagues out of the chamber, telling the Speaker of the house and the government to meet them outside with any issues they might have.
The motion was filed against Dr. Keith Rowley in parliament for his failure to disclose that David West, who became head of the Police Complaints Authority, was a witness for him in a defamation case against him, which had been filed by former Attorney General Anand Ramlogan.
This afternoon, Opposition stalwart, Colm Imbert said the motion was empty, childish, absurd, frivolous and vacuous, before adding, “I am not staying in this parliament to continue this foolish debate. I am leaving now. I am getting out of here,” much to the liking of his fellow Opposition members, who followed in strong support.
