Member of Parliament for Oropouche West, Mrs. Vidia Gayadeen-Gopeesingh, is calling on the Government to compensate farmers who lost their livestock and crops due to the destructive flooding that occurred last weekend.
In a release issued on Thursday Mrs. Gayadeen-Gopeesingh stated, that last weekend, constituents of Oropouche West lost close to $80,000 in livestock.
She questions whether or not the government has a vested interest in ensuring that all citizens who were affected be compensated.
The MP accused the negligent Rowley led administration of ignoring the cries for assistance from the constituents to dredge and widen rivers during the dry season.
Mrs Gayadeen-Gopeesingh said she wrote to the Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan asking for his intervention.
