Parliament pays tributes to former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning who passed away on Saturday morning at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Acting Prime Minister, Colm Imbert, speaking in the House of Representatives this afternoon said Mr Manning’s 44 year stint in public life was an eventful and significant one.
Mr Imbert said Mr Manning’s work and contribution was seen and felt across many areas of national life.
Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, said she was impressed with the courage and determination shown by Mr Manning especially after the People’s National Movement was beaten 33-3 by the National Alliance for Reconstruction in the general election but rebounded in the political arena.
Meanwhile, House Speaker, Bridgid Annisette George, who also reflected on the life and contribution of Mr Manning, said he was focused on setting high standards in public life.
