A ruptured Petrotrin oil pipeline forced Penal residents to vacate their homes at around 1:00 am this morning.

Petrotrin said a two inch union on a well head parted resulting in oil and gas spilling into the environment.

It said that the well was isolated and the area was secured.

Petrotrin added that residents within close proximity were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
