The Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union held a Media conference this morning to address concerns of a ship of West African origin that is currently docked in the port of Pointe-a-Pierre.
OWTU leader Ancel Roget said Petrotrin is currently attempting to dock the ship without proper protocols.
Mr. Roget said he met with the management of Petrotrin to discuss the health and safety of the workers but claimed that the meeting was fruitless.
He said that the company has no protocol for the workers regarding the possible exposure to Ebola cases.
He added that employees were cleared to board the vessel on the basis of an age old procedure.
Mr. Roget went on to say that he refused to put his members in harm’s way.
