Petrotrin has taken steps to investigate the appearance of dead fish on the coastal beaches in the South Western Peninsula of Trinidad.
A release issues by the state owned Oil Company said a team was set up to investigate the cause and samples of fish from La Brea have been taken to UWI Veterinary School for testing and analysis.
Petrotrin has also contracted an independent certified laboratory, to conduct Water and Sediment Quality testing in La Brea Beaches.
The company states findings showed that there are no contaminants identified (including hydrocarbons) in the marine and nearshore environments of La Brea.
Residents of La Brea and environs have been complaining for the last week that scores of dead fish has turned up on the beaches, leaving an unbearable stench in the area.
