Petrotrin explains that this represents the company’s third meeting with the Marabella residents affected by the slop oil
leak at the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery.
In a statement the state owned company says the first town-hall meeting with Marabella residents was held on August 1st.
It adds the second meeting was held with a representative five-member Marabella Committee on August 7th.
The company points out that while its team has removed the residual slop oil which had seeped into the Guaracara River,
attention is now focused on clearing the riverbanks of any vestiges of slop oil and garbage.
It notes that in addition to the continued distribution of hampers in the affected community, its team is liaising with the
residents to address concerns and provide status updates.
