The Oilfield Workers Trade Union says it will serve official strike notice on State-owned oil company Petrotrin next Wednesday.
After a night of conciliation talks with the company and the Ministry of labour, the OWTU held a news conference this morning.
Speaking to the media President General Ancel Roget said the union has taken the decision to strike.
The OWTU is upset over the zero zero zero offer put on the table by Petrotrin.
But negotiations aside, the union says there is another reason the strike is taking place.
Mr. Roget said the government still has one more chance to avert the action by bringing a resolution to the union’s concerns over the upcoming weekend.
