The Point Fortin Borough Council – Disaster Management Unit and a number of other key stakeholders, have conducted an Emergency Response Drill to test their preparedness to respond to an emergency in the Petrotrin Trinmar Operations, Point Ligoure Tank Farm.
The emergency drill was held on August 10th in an attempt to reinforce both Petrotrin and the burgess’ committment to protecting the welfare and economic health of the residents, businesses and visitors to their fenceline communities.
Emergency Responders including the Trinidad and Tobago Fire and Police services, Independent observers from other energy companies and Ministry of Energy officials were in attendance.
The main objectives of “Operation PULSE” were to evaluate the general response of community groups, professional groups, response team and others with special training.
It was also meant to test the relevance and effectiveness of plans, procedures, guidelines and other mechanisms for emergency response.
