The 302 point 4 million dollars allocated to the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs in the 50.5 billion dollar budget presented last Monday by Minister of Finance and the Economy, Colm Imbert is no purse of worry for the Minister Darryl Smith.
Smith mentioned the amount without much comment to its sufficiency in his wide-ranging speech in the Budget debate on Friday.
He compared it however to revised 279 plus million from a first-up 314-plus billion that were allocated for 2017
The Minister rolled out some of TT’s successes
Minister Smith pointed out at least three instances in which his Ministry had to take steps to rectify situations arising before 2015.
There was no indication from the Minister on financial or other awards for the medal-winning athletes at the World Para and Open Athletic Championships in London this year as he recalled their performances.
