This was confirmed by a release from the Office of the Prime Minister.
The release says the Prime Minister has been diagnosed with a less severe strain of the disease, known as the Classical Type, and that she is resting comfortably at home.
In the release the Prime Minister says this situation “indicates that no one is immune from this dangerous disease and it reinforces that the entire population must be extremely vigilant and take the necessary precautions to prevent contracting dengue, especially with children.
However, Mrs. Persad Bissessar says that she has been advised that she can work from her home office while under medical supervision.
The Prime Minister adds that she will continue to run the affairs of the State unless she is otherwise advised by her doctors.
