Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley this afternoon recalled that in 2004, a project aimed at changing the lives of the disenfranchised in Morvant and Laventille, was discredited by the then Opposition and dubbed racist. Dr. Rowley addressed the matter of ongoing unease in East Port-of-Spain and environs, arising out of the killing of three men in Morvant on Saturday.

Speaking with reporters at the Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann’s today, Dr. Rowley recalled the effort in 2004- something he said would have impacted the lives of many of those who are in the streets protesting today.

The Prime Minister said the programme was shut down by the Opposition.

Today, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley highlighted that a new programme aimed at doing just what that programme was aimed at doing, would be launched.
