Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley welcomes Madame Justice Paula Mae Weekes, as the sixth President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking at the Parliament Building yesterday, Dr. Rowley said women of all ages and walks of life have held high offices, which is the tapestry of the nation’s history.
Dr. Rowley said this event acts as the perfect opportunity for young people to sit up and take notice of Justice Weekes’ story, which he says serves as a living example that nothing is beyond our reach.
Meanwhile Opposition Leader, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, sends congratulations to the newly elected President on being the first female President.
Persad-Bissessar said this moment in time sees the country elevating into history and hopes that Madame Justice Paula-Mae Weekes will be inspired to deliver dedicated service and commitment to the country.
The Opposition Leader said she is confident that Madame Justice Weekes will discharge her duties and responsibilities as our Head of State impartially and with compassion, striving at all times to enhance our democracy.
