PM says Tobago office not outside the law

Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, is adamant her aim to open an operational Office of the Prime Minister in Tobago, is not outside of the law…

She defended the move yesterday saying she’s the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and will discharge her duties as the Prime Minister, not just of Trinidad but of Tobago as well, as this is her constitutional duty.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar was speaking with reporters after delivering the feature address at the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Investment Forum at the Hilton Trinidad.

On Saturday, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar announced plans to “full operationalise” the office on the sister isle during a celebration in Tobago to mark the People’s Partnership first anniversary.
