Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, says there was nothing untoward with his visit to the parliament along with other senior officers of the Service last week Friday.
He says his presence in the parliament was to hear matters of serious interest to the TTPS and in no way should be viewed as a threat to the independence of the Service.
His comments follow reported concerns about the visit by Oropouche East Member of Parliament, Dr. Roodal Moonilal.
Commissioner Griffith was speaking on the State of the Nation Programme on Power 102.1FM on Monday afternoon.
The House of Representatives focused on a motion to Adopt the Joint Select Committee on National Security’s Report on the Police Manpower Audit.
However, the Police Commissioner is making it clear that he was not forced or influenced to attend the sitting.
