Two suspects were arrested and three stolen vehicles recovered in exercises conducted by police over the weekend.
On Friday, Insp. Roger Joseph and officers from the Northern Division conducted stolen vehicles exercises in Area East and Central of the Division.
Acting on intelligence, they recovered one Kia K2700 pick-up which was stolen from the St Joseph district on December 23rd 2019. Additionally, they recovered a Nissan Latio which was reported stolen from Tunapuna on June 10th.
Two 36 year old male suspects were arrested in connection with the theft of these vehicles.
In a separate exercise Sgt. Haywood and Cpl (Ag.) Singh were on mobile patrol in the Caroni district on Saturday when they were approached by a victim who explained that her car was stolen at gunpoint three days prior. The victim further explained that the GPS tracking technology on her vehicle indicated that it was at a location in Carapo.
As a result, a joint exercise was held with Insp. Joseph and a party of officers of the Stolen Vehicle Squad, who proceeded to conduct searches in the Carapo district.
The vehicle was recovered at Race Course Road, Carapo bearing false number plates and covered by a tarpaulin. The vehicle was wrecked and escorted by the Stolen Vehicle Squad to the Arima Police Station.
