Police detain two Latin American men

news 1Two men have been detained by the Immigration Department under the suspicion of being in the country illegally.

Reports indicate that that shortly after 6pm on Saturday officers of the Inter Agency Task Force were on mobile patrol in the Port of Spain district, when they had cause to stop and interview three men.

As a result the officers suspected the men of being prohibited Immigrants and they were subsequently detained and conveyed to the Central Police Station.

The men were identified as a national of the Dominican Republic; and two Cuban nationals.

Further enquiries were conducted with the Immigration Investigation Department and it was revealed that one of the Cuban Nationals was legal in the country until Monday 25th August 2014 and he was allowed to leave.

The other two men are currently in the custody of the Immigration Department.
