The Police Manpower Audit Committee is troubled by incidents of leaks in police investigations.

At a sitting of the Committee on Thursday before the Joint Select Committee of Parliament, Criminologist Professor Ramesh Deosaran said it is aware through feedback received that criminals have been aware of the operation of the police service before action is taken by officers.

Professor Deosaran also highlighted concern related to linkages between politicians and gang leaders and the negative impact such practice is having on the effectiveness of the Police Service.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Harold Phillip, also gave his views on similar sentiments expressed by Professor Deosaran.
