One man was killed and a pistol and quantity of ammunition recovered, following a police-involved shooting incident which occurred in the Western Division on Thursday. Dead is 36-year-old Lyndon Mohammed.
According to police reports, officers of the Western Division Task Force were conducting an exercise around 1:20pm when, acting on information, they proceeded to the Cocorite residence of “a wanted man.” The officers surrounded the house and announced their presence to the suspect who police say, pointed a firearm through a window in the house at the officers and fired two shots at them.
Officers, in accordance with the Use of Force policy, returned fire and quickly gained entry into the house. There, they observed the suspect suffering from gunshot wounds about the body. He was taken to the St. James Medical Complex for treatment where he died.
A Glock 19 pistol loaded with a quantity of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
