San Fernando Business Association head, Daphne Bartlett

The San Fernando Business Association is commending  police officers for their quick action and the arrest of suspects in connection with a robbery in the southern city on Wednesday.

Police reports say at around 8:45am on Wednesday two armed men entered a distribution company at Hobson Street in San Fernando, where they announced a hold-up. The gunmen then proceeded to rob the manager of an undisclosed sum of money.

As the bandits were leaving, the manager reportedly took out his licensed firearm and shot in the bandits’ direction, shooting one of the assailants. Police officers held the second suspect a short time later.

An undisclosed sum of money was recovered.

In a News Power Now interview, San Fernando Business Association President, Daphne Bartlett, praised the work of the officers and noted that crime continues to be an area of concern for the association’s members.


She also noted the importance of reviewing security systems and arrangements.
