Police officer charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol

A police officer attached to the Inter Agency Task Force was yesterday slapped with a $6,000 fine when he reappeared in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Magistrate Wendy Dougdeen-Bally, presiding in the Sixth Court, imposed the fine on 38 year old PC Sean Legendre, after finding him guilty.

When he first appeared in court on April 27, Legendre had pleaded not guilty to the offence and was placed on bail in the sum of $8,000.

The officer was arrested and charged for the offence following a road traffic accident he was involved in on the night of April 26 at Saddle Road, Maraval
