Police officers to be disciplined for not wearing bullet proof vest

Joanne Archie 2Police officers who fail to wear their service issued bullet proof vests may be disciplined.

On Tuesday, Acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams ordered that all on duty officers must wear their vests. His call came hours after an officer was shot by an alleged bandit.

The Commissioner’s order has always been a requirement by Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

TTPS Public Information Officer, Superintendent Joanne Archie said the service is committed to protecting officers.

She added that the TTPS will conduct an audit to ensure all officers are provided with a vest.
