Police Priorities Questioned By Opposition Chief Whip As Ramlogan Remains in Custody

Police Priorities Questioned By Opposition Chief Whip As Ramlogan Remains in Custody

Oropouche MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal is questioning the timing surrounding the arrest of former Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan.

Dr. Moonilal is today suggesting that Mr. Ramlogan’s arrest is politically motivated.

Dr. Moonilal goes on to paint Mr. Ramlogan’s arrest as political harassment.

The UNC Chief Whip also questions the priorities of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Ramlogan remains in police custody

News Power Now understands that while the former Attorney General is facing charges of Misbehavior in Public Office and Perversion of Justice, those charges have yet to be officially laid against him. These charges concern the witness-tampering allegations made against Ramlogan in 2015 by Police Complaints Authority chairman David West. Mr. Ramlogan spent the entire day yesterday being questioned by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau.

Police now await instruction from the Director of Public Prosecutions on whether Ramlogan should be charged.
