The statement comes after an officer was shot during an exchange of gunfire between police officers and bandits yesterday morning in St Augustine.
Reports indicate that the officer was not outfitted with a bullet-proof vest at the time of the shooting.
The Inspector said that the association is now calling for it to be made mandatory that officers wear bullet-proof vests.
Insp. Seales also questioned the quality of bullet- proof vests given to officers.
He added that there also seems to be a shortage of bullet-proof vests within the service.
Inspector Seales is calling on the Commissioner of Police to address the situation.
