One political analyst believes the government had to make certain decisions that are not popular but necessary at this time.
It’s a view put forward by Rishi Maharaj.
Reflecting on the Mid-Year Budget Review presented on Friday, Mr Maharaj commented on the fuel subsidy issue.
He admitted that normally governments will pursue a course of action that gains the backing of citizens and sets them up for a return to office.
However, Mr Maharaj explained that there are times when this approach has to be adjusted.
Focusing on diversifying the economy, the political analyst said while the topic has been around for some time its important there be more action in this regard.
