Port of Spain Mayor, Raymond Timkee

Members of the Port- of- Spain city corporation will meet today to determine specifically, what assistance will be provided to the families of the slain students.

Port of Spain Mayor, Raymond Timkee yesterday visited Laventille with other officials from the corporation.

He had gone to the area to meet with parents of the slain youths.

During his visit, the Mayor spoke to the media.

Mayor Tim Kee said the residents of Laventille were being affected by gangsters who were engaging in a kind of tyranny.

He described the situation as hell on earth.


Residents told the Port of Spain officials that there is a death list in Laventille.

The Mayor however said he was not aware of any such list.

He said that children were afraid to go out and play because of the violence that had gripped their area.

He called for a permanent police/army post to stem the criminal activities.

Meanwhile, the Education Minister, Anthony Garcia along with officials from the ministry, are carded to visit the Success Laventille Secondary school today. They will also visit the homes of the slain students as well as the Our Lady of Laventille Roman Catholic School.
