Port of Spain Mayor, Keron Valentine will join officials of the Tourism Development Company tomorrow as they embark on the second installment of the STAR Roving Tourism Caravan.
The launch of the caravan took place on June 25th at Gulf City Mall in San Fernando. In a statement issued this afternoon, the TDC notes that tomorrow will see the caravan visit the capital city in a bid to increase awareness on the benefits of tourism and to sensitize the public on the potential of the tourism industry to become a major source of income for the national economy.
The Port of Spain edition of the caravan will include a mystery shopping exercise, in which mystery shoppers will secretly assess the quality of service provided by various establishments in the Port of Spain area. Those employees who have been recognized as providing STAR service during the exercise will receive prizes for their effort.
The TDC, in its statement said, the STAR unit is a national quality service improvement arm of the organisation that is mandated to increase customer service levels throughout the sector. The Unit has trained approximately four thousand (4000) employees over a wide cross section of organisations with the aim of providing the skills and knowledge required to bring about a positive and lasting shift in the quality of service delivered in Trinidad and Tobago.
