The Inter-Isle Truckers and Traders Association today gave several recommendations at the sitting of the Joint Select Committee on Land and Physical Infrastructure to help improve transportation between Scarborough and Port-of- Spain. Horace Amede, President of the Association, focused on the need for improvement in facilities to properly accommodate persons with physical disabilities and the elderly and children.
He also suggested that the Port Police compliment should be strengthened, adding that they should be a part of the vessel’s security, to ensure that instances of lawlessness are properly addressed.
Mr. Amede also gave proposals for the cargo vessel to help ensure efficiency.
Samuel Applewhite, Secretary of the organization, highlighted some challenges encountered on the cargo vessel, the Cabo Star.
Meanwhile, Robert Tardieu, Vice President of the group during his stint on the microphone elaborated on concerns surrounding insurance issues pertaining to the Cabo Star.
