Water and Sewerage Authority corporate communications manager Daniel Plenty has confirmed that breakage and other problems in several of the WASA lines caused a disruption of pipe-borne water to residents in East Port-of-Spain.
Discussions over the disruption of water supply were held yesterday at City Hall, Port of Spain.
Mr Plenty said that there are also challenges with the breakage along the Western Main Road in Cocorite
WASA’s Director, Customer Care Doodnath Bhola explained the blown transformer at the Caroni Arena Plant that occurred in February and the recent contamination to the water supply at the Caroni water treatment plant had combined to affect the residents of East Port-of-Spain.
A truck borne water supply has been put into effect in the interim, but has proved inadequate.
WASA has confirmed that the full supply of 75 million gallons of water will resume later this week.
